Brad Pitt's Formula One Film Enlists 'The Crown' Star Tobias Menzies for Cast (EXCLUSIVE)
In an exclusive report, Variety has revealed that British actor Tobias Menzies, known for his Emmy-winning performance in Netflix's "The Crown," has joined the cast of Apple Original Films' upcoming Formula One racing feature. The film, which stars Brad Pitt as a former driver making a comeback, will also feature Damson Idris ("Snowfall") and BAFTA winner Kerry Condon ("The Banshees of Inisherin"). While the details of Menzies' role are being kept secret for now, the project is set to shoot during various Grand Prix events this summer.
Directed and produced by Joseph Kosinski ("Top Gun: Maverick"), the Apple Studios production involves notable names such as seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton, who serves as a producer under his Dawn Apollo Films banner, as well as Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman of Jerry Bruckheimer Films, and Plan B Entertainment. The film is a collaborative effort with the entire F1 community, including Formula 1, the 10 teams, and the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile). The screenplay is penned by Oscar-nominee Ehren Kruger ("Top Gun: Maverick").

Brad Pitt's Formula One project marks the second collaboration between Apple Studios, Pitt, and Plan B Entertainment. In addition, they are partnering with George Clooney's Smokehouse on an untitled film directed by Jon Watts, featuring both Pitt and Clooney.
Tobias Menzies, who has joined the cast of the Formula One film, is also starring alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus in A24's "You Hurt My Feelings," directed by Nicole Holofcener. The film is currently in release in the U.S., and it has been selected as the closing film for Sundance London. Signature Entertainment has acquired the distribution rights for the U.K. and Ireland.
Menzies is well-known for his roles in HBO's "Rome" and "Game of Thrones," as well as Starz's "Outlander." His portrayal of the late Prince Philip in "The Crown" earned him a supporting actor Emmy in 2021. Upcoming projects include the lead role of Edwin Stanton in the Apple TV+ series "Manhunt," based on James Swanson's book "Manhunt: The 12-Day Chase for Lincoln's Killer." Represented by Conway Van Gelder Grant in the U.K. and WME in the U.S., Menzies continues to make his mark in the industry with a diverse range of roles.
