Entertainment Tonight has confirmed that Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have called it quits after being together for six years. According to the report, the breakup was amicable and not dramatic. Currently on her highly anticipated "Eras" tour, the 33-year-old singer and the 32-year-old British actor's relationship "had just run its course," which is why Alwyn hasn't been seen at any shows, as per ET.
The couple, who were rumored to have met at the 2016 Met Gala, have kept their relationship mostly private. They were seldom photographed publicly together, with one of the few occasions being at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards, where Swift was nominated for Best Original Song for "Beautiful Ghosts" from "Cats."
Joe Alwyn has appeared in various TV shows and films, including the Hulu adaptation of the book "Conversations with Friends" and the Oscar-nominated movie "The Favourite."
Last year, Taylor Swift released her tenth studio album, "Midnights," and announced her "Eras" world tour, where she will perform songs from her previous albums. According to ET, Alwyn inspired one of the songs on the album called "Lavender Haze," which Swift revealed on TikTok. She explained that the phrase "Lavender Haze" was a common term used in the '50s to describe the feeling of being in all-encompassing love. Swift also directed the music video for the song, which was released earlier this year.
Swift and Alwyn had been together for six years, and news of their breakup caused "Taylor" to trend on Twitter, with 362,000 tweets as of Monday. The couple had kept their relationship mostly private, with few public appearances together, and Swift had previously mentioned the need to ignore tabloid rumors to protect their relationship.
