The reality TV personality turned entrepreneur announced the news via a cryptic post on her Instagram account on Monday, sharing a teaser video featuring spooky music and using the eyeball and blood drop emojis to create suspense.

According to a video posted by Kim Kardashian, she will be appearing alongside "American Horror Story" regular Emma Roberts in the upcoming 12th season, set to premiere this summer. Roberts shared the same video on her Instagram account with the caption, "This summer... Kim and I are DELICATE."

Although Kardashian did not provide any information about her character or the storyline for the upcoming season, FX has confirmed her casting to Variety. No further details have been revealed by the network at this time.

Kim Kardashian has landed a lead role in the upcoming 12th season of "American Horror Story," according to a representative for Ryan Murphy. The representative also revealed that the character was specially written for Kardashian.

Halley Feiffer, who has previously written for "American Horror Story" and "American Crime Story," will serve as showrunner and write all the episodes for the upcoming season.

Kim Kardashian has been a television star for more than 15 years, having risen to fame on E!'s "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and now featuring on Hulu's "The Kardashians." However, she has not frequently explored the realm of acting. Although she has several voice acting animation credits and has made appearances as herself on a number of sitcoms including "How I Met Your Mother," "30 Rock," "2 Broke Girls," and most recently, "Ocean's 8," she has only taken on a few minor acting roles. In 2008, she starred in the parody comedy film "Disaster Movie," and in 2009, she appeared in a single episode of "CSI: NY." Additionally, she had a four-episode stint in 2012 on "Drop Dead Diva."

Kim Kardashian's appearance on "American Horror Story" will be her most significant acting role in over ten years, marking a notable shift from her recent focus on producing and starring in reality television.

This new role also expands Kardashian's presence under the Disney brand. Currently, Kardashian and her family executive produce and feature in Hulu's "The Kardashians," which begins its third season next month. "American Horror Story," on the other hand, is broadcast on FX and is also available to stream on Hulu.

Kim Kardashian is one of the most globally recognizable figures and has made an indelible mark on popular culture. Her vast platform in reality television has enabled her to leverage her fame and fanbase, which exceeds 350 million Instagram followers, into a billion-dollar enterprise. Among her various businesses are SKIMS shapewear and clothing, SKKN skincare, and a private equity company that she co-founded, SKKY Partners.

“American Horror Story,” a creation of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, has become famous for its ever-changing ensemble of top-tier actors. Emma Roberts will be making her return to the franchise in Season 12, having previously starred in four seasons and last appearing in 2019. Other notable performers in Murphy's "AHS" repertoire include Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Billie Lourd, and even Lady Gaga, who had a leading role in the anthology's fifth season.
