'The Mother' Maintains Dominance in Netflix Top 10 for Second Week as 'XO, Kitty' Makes Strong Debut with 72 Million Hours Streamed
'The Mother' continues its reign as the most-watched title on Netflix for the second consecutive week, accumulating an impressive 92 million hours of viewing during the May 15-21 timeframe. This milestone propels the show to surpass the 90 million views mark. Netflix determines total views by dividing the total hours watched (178.1 million hours) by the show's total runtime (1.96 hours).
Spinoffs also made a significant impact on the English-Language TV chart. Leading the list is 'Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story,' attracting an additional 82.39 million hours of viewership. In its third week on the popular titles chart, Shonda Rhimes' Georgian era tale not only claimed the top spot but also appeared in the Top 10 in 89 countries. Additionally, Season 1 and Season 2 of 'Bridgerton' made a comeback, ranking at No. 6 and No. 7, respectively, as viewers revisited or discovered the original series. Season 1 of the period drama garnered 19.46 million hours of viewership, while Season 2 amassed 18.17 million hours.
Beneath the rankings, the "To All the Boys" sequel series, titled "XO, Kitty," made a strong entrance with 72.08 million hours of viewership since its debut on May 18. Starring Anna Cathcart as Kitty Song Covey and Minyeong Choi as Dae, this young adult romantic comedy garnered over 14 million total views and secured a place in the Top 10 in 90 countries.
Joining the chart with a notable debut is Season 6 of "Selling Sunset," which premiered on May 19. With new cast members Bre Tiesi and Nicole Young, the reality realtors accumulated 22.78 million hours of viewership in its initial three days and claimed the fourth spot on the list. Other non-scripted titles that made their way onto the chart include the documentary "McGregor Forever," featuring UFC fighter Conor McGregor, which earned 20.85 million hours of viewership and secured the fifth position, and "Missing: Dead or Alive," which landed at the bottom of the list with 15.29 million hours viewed.
In third place, Season 2 of "Firefly Lane" made a comeback in this week's rankings with 23.14 million hours viewed. The season rejoined the chart after Netflix released part 2 of the final chapter on April 27.
Impressively, "The Night Agent" secured its position among the top 10 titles for the ninth consecutive week. The political thriller landed at No. 8 with 16.8 million hours viewed during the viewing window. It's worth mentioning that "The Diplomat," another drama in the same genre on Netflix, did not make the chart this week, despite its strong debut that interrupted "The Night Agent's" four-week reign at No. 1. Both shows have already been renewed for a second season.
Taking the ninth spot on the list is Season 2 of "Sweet Tooth," accumulating 16.66 million hours viewed. The series has also been confirmed for a third and final season.
Here are Netflix's Top 10 lists for the week of May 15-21, starting with English-language series, followed by non-English-language TV shows, English-language movies, and non-English-language movies.
