Behind the Scenes: Jennifer Lopez's Candid Account of Navigating Parenthood in the Celebrity Circus!
Jennifer Lopez expresses her desire to shield her children from the challenges of having famous parents. The singer and actress empathizes with her 15-year-old twins, Max and Emme, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony. During a roundtable discussion to promote her Netflix film, "The Mother," Lopez opened up about her children's upbringing.
In the film, Lopez portrays an assassin who resurfaces to protect the child she left behind many years ago. When asked if there was anything she wished she could protect her own children from, she responded with a resounding "Everything."
Lopez acknowledged that being the child of famous parents is a unique experience that few can truly comprehend. She expressed her sympathy for her kids, emphasizing that they did not choose the spotlight that comes with their parents' fame.
The multi-talented artist also revealed that she has recently begun discussing with her teenagers how they are treated by others in light of their parents' celebrity status.
"When my children enter a room, people's focus immediately shifts to their famous parents," Lopez explained. "They are not seen for who they truly are, and I believe that must be incredibly challenging for them. I wish I could shield them from that."
Lopez also acknowledged that while everyone is susceptible to bullying, the experience of being judged by strangers is particularly tough for her children. She expressed concern about the difficulty they face in growing up and staying true to themselves under the constant scrutiny. They are aware of the constant observation and that adds an extra layer of hardship.
"As a mother, I take responsibility for exposing them to this lifestyle," Lopez admitted. "We carry a sense of guilt for the impact our choices have had on their lives."
"The Mother" is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
