Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson reunite with smiles at the 2023 Met Gala, eight months after their split
Breaking up is usually a difficult experience, but for Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, it seems to be a different story. The former couple was seen happily catching up during the 2023 Met Gala on May 1.
After gracing the red carpet in a custom Schiaparelli dress embellished with 50,000 real pearls, the 42-year-old reality TV star was spotted chatting with the 29-year-old comedian and Usher. Kardashian explained to Vogue that the dress was inspired by the iconic Chanel pearls, saying, "I thought, what is more Karl? You know, the iconic Chanel pearls is what I always thought of. So, we wanted to just be dripping in pearls." The event was themed "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty."
As for Davidson, he went for a more laid-back look that included a bucket hat, sunglasses, and oversized gloves, but the only accessory he had on while chatting with his ex-girlfriend was a wide smile.
Kardashian and Davidson began their relationship shortly after meeting on the set of Saturday Night Live in October 2021. Kardashian later shared that the actor had initially tried to get her number at the Met fundraiser a month prior.
"His story is that he had been asking around for my number a bit. I saw him at the Met [in September 2021], and he knew I was hosting SNL, but it hadn't been announced yet. He came up to me, and we were talking about SNL," Kardashian recalled on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast in April 2022.
Following a period of keeping their relationship under the radar, Kardashian and Davidson made their first appearance together on the red carpet at the White House Correspondents' Association gala while Kardashian was in the process of divorcing Kanye West. A few days later, they appeared together on the Met Gala red carpet in May 2022.
In August 2022, Us Weekly reported that the couple had called it quits after less than a year together. An insider shared with the publication that there was no drama involved in their decision to separate. "It was something they talked through; it wasn't a sudden breakup," the source said.
The following month, Kardashian confirmed her single status during an interview with Kelly Ripa, stating that she currently has no interest in being with anyone.
"I did mention that maybe I should try dating a doctor or a scientist, so perhaps a bunch of lawyers or scientists will contact me. But I'm just not ready," she said. "I'm not looking for anything. I believe I need to focus on myself, finish my studies, and spend time with my children." (Kardashian has four children with West: North, 9, who accompanied her to the Met Gala, as well as Saint, 7, Chicago, 5, and Psalm, 3.)
The teaser for the upcoming season of The Kardashians, which will be released later this month on Hulu, suggests that she will address the breakup on camera following Davidson's appearances in the second season.
Davidson, on the other hand, was briefly connected to Emily Ratajkowski before moving on to co-star with Chase Sui Wonders in Bodies Bodies Bodies.
