Jenna Ortega revamped her goth-glam Met Gala red carpet outfit for the afterparties, switching things up for a night of partying.
The star of "Wednesday" brought her signature dark style to the Met Gala, sporting two sleek black and white ensembles, both reminiscent of her iconic character. She wore a monochromatic black and white look for the major fashion event, complete with several frills and ruffles. Her outfit included a black Thom Browne corset dress with a white collared undershirt, a black bow, a black bolero-style long-sleeved jacket, and a large detachable ruffled skirt that fanned out behind her, showcasing her legs.
The jacket and skirt of the ensemble featured pearl and chain motifs along the sides and frills, adding a touch of elegance. To complement the look, the actress wore silver earrings, black knee-high stockings, and retro black and white platform shoes. Her half-up hairstyle, with tendrils framing her face, completed the overall aesthetic.
Throughout the night, the actress held the long skirt in her left hand while posing on different parts of the red carpet, showcasing the black textured outside and white silky underside of the skirt.
Later in the evening, she shed the bolero and large skirt, opting for a more casual spin by wearing just the black corset with the sheer white long-sleeved undershirt and bow. The shirt's bottom edges peeked through the tight-fitting garment, giving the outfit a relaxed feel. The actress kept some of the same accessories but added a black handbag to accompany her for the night's festivities.
Ortega's outfits paid homage to the late Karl Lagerfeld's signature black-and-white color combination, which was fitting for this year's Met Gala theme, "Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty." Lagerfeld was known for designing for several top fashion houses, including Chanel, Balmain, Patou, Chloé, Fendi, and his own self-named fashion brand.
Since her appearance on Netflix's "Wednesday," the actress has donned numerous gothic-inspired gowns and dresses to various events, including a goth-glam gown at the 2023 SAG Awards. For the event, she wore an all-black Versace gown with a sculpted bodice, a high-low hemline gathered at the waist, and a belt featuring Versace's signature gold enclosure.
In a recent interview with Vogue, Ortega discussed her character Wednesday Addams' unique style and how she embraces it. The actress said, "I've always respected goth culture. I've always had a darker sense of humor, but I never felt like I was able to express that. Now I feel like I can embrace those qualities in myself."
